L.K. Elmhirst became an ardent admirer and able associate of Rabindranath Tagore.He came to Bolpur in November 1921 at Tagore’s invitation.It was he who helped to make Tagore’s dream of rural reconstruction through Sriniketan a reality.Later he started an ideal school at Dartington Hall in Devon.It had much in common with Santiniketan and Sriniketan.His love for Gurudev and Sriniketan, however, never changed. Known as an agricultural scientist all over the world, he also rendered valuable service to post-war planning in India.
