THIS edition contains the main body of Blake’s poetry, comprehending not only the purely lyrical poems but also those written in irregular unrhymed verse or rhythmed prose. It contains also the earlier blank verse poems, the French Revolution, the whole of the minor Prophetic Books (including for the sake of completeness the prose Marriage of Heaven and Hell, the Sibylline Leaves, and the tractates on Natural and Super sensual Religion), together with selec tion from the three longer Prophecies, The Four Zoas, Milton, and Jerusalem.Blake’s celebrated prose account of the Canterbury Pilgrims is added.Blake’s spelling has been modernized throughout, and his erratic and some times non-existent punctuation rational ized. His earlier, variant, or cancelled readings are given as footnotes.
